Argentina were absolutely fantastic and produced a vintage World Cup performance as they demolished Serbia and Montenegro. The only word to describe it was incredible and the scoreline could have been double what it was! In case you didn’t hear, the Argentineans ran out 6-0 winners and they played some terrific football.

Crespo and Rodriguez, plus Messi when he came on, were outstanding and the game showed just what the World Cup is all about. Argentina kept the ball on the ground and it paid dividends for them on the day.

I spent most of Friday heading to Munich for the big one – Australia versus Brazil. However, I do have to say the hype surrounding the Aussies at the moment is just way over the top. Don’t get me wrong, they did very well to beat Japan and they are playing well. But taking on Brazil is another level up for them and they will realise just how hard football can be. Ronaldinho and his mates have taken a load of stick so this is not the best time to be playing them.

Speaking to a few Brazil fans and it’s clear that they aren’t too happy with coach Carlos Alberto Parreira after he came out in support of Ronaldo. The Real Madrid man was poor against Croatia and Robinho did look good when he replaced him. In fact, the fastest Ronaldo moved was when he was substituted!

But in all seriousness, you’ve got to be patient with top players. Sven Goran Eriksson is doing it with Michael Owen in the hope he’ll repay that faith and Parreira knows that if he gets the right service then Ronaldo will come up with the goods which I think he will do against Australia.

What I will say about Brazil is that the blend in the side is clearly not working at the moment. It’s all about movement which is something every team can learn from Argentina’s performance yesterday. Brazil are capable of playing the same way and I think they will click when they eventually get things right.

Argentina have now set the benchmark and shown how easy football is when every player is on top of their game. Can the rest follow suit?

That’s it from me, I’ll have more tomorrow.
