 Hi it’s Kammy here,
Saturday sees the third-fourth place play-off, which means a lot to the players despite some people thinking that the game doesn’t matter.
It’s sometimes built as a consolation prize for the teams that missed out on the final, but it’s more than that. It makes an impact as to your team’s standing in the world of football.
I don’t think Portugal will finish third and I don’t think they deserve to finish third. They didn’t deserve to beat England and have been fortunate to get this far.
To be fair to Phil Scolari’s men, I think that they will now come out and attack in this game and give some support to Pauletta.
The best player for Portugal, by far, has been Cristiano Ronaldo. Despite the incidents in the game with England, he has been one of the players of the tournament.
He should have been in the FIFA squad of the tournament and was unfortunate to miss out. But even with Ronaldo’s qualities, I don’t think Portugal will be strong enough to see off the hosts in Stuttgart.
Jurgen Klinsmann has been forced into a few changes because of injury, but they will once again have the impressive partnerhsip of Lukas Podolski and Miroslav Klose up front.
That will mean Germany will have too much firepower for Portugal and with the home support, they will see off Scolari’s men.
I think Germany will end up 2-1 winners, yes I’m tipping a goal from Portugal would you believe! Klose will grab the first goal and in the process finish the tournament as the leading scorer.
That’s all from me for today, I’ll be back again tomorrow to preview Sunday’s final.
